Job Summary
Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to measure dimensions of automotive parts, inspection fixtures, and machine jigs. Read blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications per GD & T, then visualize and compute sizes and tolerances of assemblies. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. Develop and implement computer programs using Polyworks or PC DMIS software, and perform in-depth part layout using CMM or laser scanner. Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary. Stop production if unsafe parts, actions, or poor-quality conditions exist.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education & experience
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings / GD&T
- Must be able to follow routers
- Must be able to use simple math to perform basic calculations
- Must be able to use basic hand-held measuring tools
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift/push/pull objects that are up to 50 pounds
