Job Summary
The Clinical Staff (CMA, RMA, CST or LPN) supports providers and the bariatric team in patient intake, vital signs, medical history verification, EMR documentation, and clinic coordination to ensure efficient bariatric pre-/post-operative care. Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, patient education, coordinating with front desk and nurses, completing EMR entries and MIPS tasks, processing medication and lab orders, scheduling and triage calls, telehealth participation, bariatric-specific assessments, and maintaining clinic protocols per ASMBS standards. Proficiency with Allscripts, Athena, or Epic EMR systems; strong communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary staff are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
- BLS certification
- Experience in bariatrics, primary care, endocrinology, or surgical specialties preferred
- Understanding of bariatric surgery process and weight management principles preferred
- Strong patient education and communication skills
- Compassionate approach to patients undergoing lifestyle and health changes
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems and clinical documentation
