Job Summary
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include delivering patient care with preparation and vital sign collection, documenting care, assisting with procedures and diagnostic equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, administering medications and immunizations under provider direction, coordinating testing (scheduling labs, x-rays, surgeries), preparing and organizing patient charts, conducting patient outreach, coordinating physician schedules and insurance pre-certifications, scheduling follow-ups, maintaining patient confidentiality, educating patients and families, promoting evidence-based nursing practices, advocating for patients, training/mentoring colleagues, and providing cross-coverage in clinic areas; requires understanding of federal/state/local regulations and Trinity Health policies; supports collaborative, shared-leadership environment and compliant practice.
Required Qualifications
- Must complete a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHP or ABHES
- Certification options: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCT), CMA (NCCC), CCMA (NHA), NRCMA (NAHP), NPCE MA (NPCE)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire
- Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire
- Proficient in Windows, web, email, MS Office
- Ability to read/write English and communicate effectively in patient care
- Positive, ethical, professional behavior in line with mission and values
