Job Summary
Deliver resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under charge nurse supervision, including bathing, toileting, grooming, and vital signs collection. Administer prescribed medications as delegated, assist with transfers and range of motion exercises, and prepare meals to support resident wellness. Document care outcomes, medication administration, and behavior changes while communicating updates to the charge nurse. Provide housekeeping, laundry services, and recreational program support to maintain clean living areas and encourage resident participation. Requires CNA or Medication Assistant certification depending on state and facility type, with a 40-hour day shift schedule and salary ranging from $19.00 to $28.00.
Required Qualifications
- Active certified nursing assistant registration in state of practice, or ability to obtain within 120 days
- State required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA)
- Iowa: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing
- Iowa: CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing
- Iowa: Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained
- Minnesota: nursing assistant certification
- Minnesota: completed the 75-hour course
- Minnesota: registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry
- Minnesota: Successful completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course
- North Dakota: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing
- North Dakota: CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing
- North Dakota: Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained
- If working in an Assisted Living or Basic Care facility: Medication Assistant I certification
- If working in a skilled nursing facility: Medication Assistant II certification
- South Dakota: successfully complete the state approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course
- South Dakota: CMA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing
- For all Good Samaritan and Sanford nursing facilities: state required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA)
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance (when applicable)
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Minimum age of 18
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
