Job Summary

Administer oral and topical medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, adhering to physician orders and state regulations. Perform routine daily tasks to maintain resident health and comfort, including taking vital signs, answering call lights, and conducting rounds. Record medication administration and treatments via the computer system while observing and reporting any adverse reactions or behavioral changes. Notify licensed staff immediately when residents complain of pain and document all observed condition changes or unusual incidents.

Required Qualifications

  • CMA Certification in the state of North Carolina
  • CNA Certification in the state of North Carolina
  • Demonstrate knowledge of five rights of medication administration
  • Administer and record all medication given to residents based upon their specific chart
  • Notify appropriate licensed staff when a resident complains of pain
  • Take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications
  • Record the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed
  • Answer resident call lights, anticipate resident's needs and make rounds to assigned resident under the supervision of a licensed nurse or charge nurse on the shift
  • Observe for and report any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse on the appropriate shift
  • Perform all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
  • Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality
  • Administer PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy
  • Report and when appropriate, record any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents
