Job Summary
Conduct daily substitute teaching at a single school covering absences for ten days or fewer per absence, with assignments subject to daily change. Deliver cognitively demanding lessons that scaffold instruction for diverse learners while maintaining high expectations and an equitable, respectful environment. Engage families in collaborative relationships and reflect on practice to continuously improve teaching effectiveness. Requires current U.S. work authorization, undergraduate degree, and successful completion of a screening interview and background check. Preferred qualifications include a Massachusetts teaching license, urban school experience, and fluency in Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an undergraduate college/university degree
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Successfully complete a screening interview with the BPS Office of Human Resources
- Pass a CORI/SORI criminal background check
Desired Qualifications
- Massachusetts Teaching License in assigned content and grade level, including SEI Endorsement if applicable
- Experience in a school or community setting working with children or young adults
- Experience teaching in urban schools
- Fluency in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali
