Job Summary
Drive individuals to various destinations throughout the day, assisting clients in and out of the van and maneuvering wheelchairs on the lift. Perform miscellaneous Clubhouse operational, office, and kitchen duties when needed, including reviewing daily schedules and helping fellow drivers. Maintain vehicles by checking fluid and gasoline levels, while ensuring the facility remains clean, welcoming, and safe. Notify staff and consumers of delays via company phone and adhere to all State of Michigan laws and posted speed limits. Provide weekly reports to the department supervisor and promote quality improvement initiatives while interacting courteously with consumers, visitors, and agency personnel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- A minimum of 1 year of transportation services experience
- Valid Michigan Operator or CDL (Driver's) license
- Reliable transportation with proof of insurance
- Must have an excellent driving record
- No more than 1 moving violation within the past 12 months
- No operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated or impaired by consumption due to alcohol or illegal drugs within the past 8 years
- No suspended, revoked, or expired license within the past 5 years
- No more than 2 points on current driving record
- Ability to use a wheelchair lift
- Intermediate level experience with computers and Microsoft office products
- Ability to work closely with persons with mental or physical limitations
- Ability to drive safely in all types of weather and road conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously
- Ability to use discretion and judgement when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature
- Intermediate time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Intermediate collaboration and team working skills
- Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department
