Job Summary
Monitor and supervise club sports activities including practices, workouts, and competitions to ensure participant and spectator safety. Enforce club sport program policies, field rules, building regulations, and health and safety laws. Assist with planning team competitions, website management, marketing, and special events while handling team compliance paperwork for rosters and audits. Act as a liaison between clubs and management by addressing program suggestions, complaints, and requests. Attend all staff meetings, training days, and workshops. This role supports the development of the collegiate experience at San Jose State University's Student Union facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Matriculated SJSU student
- Continuously enrolled at least half-time during the academic term
- Able to lift 45 pounds safely
- Able to stand for an extended period of time
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
- Knowledge of general facility operations
- Knowledge of Club Sports policies and procedures
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage conflicts
- Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrists to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone
- Sitting, walking, twisting, bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, squatting, crawling, kneeling, balancing, reaching, and coordination
- Completion of CSU – Injury and Illness Prevention Program training
- Completion of CSU – Preventing Discrimination and Harassment for Non-Supervisors training
- Completion of CSU – Sexual Misconduct Prevention Program (Title IX) training
- Compliance with California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act requirements
- Successful background check including verification of employment and education
- Check of criminal records for employment
- Completion of a Department of Motor Vehicles check
- Check of licenses and certificates when applicable
Desired Qualifications
- American Red Cross certification (First Aid/CPR/AED)
