Job Summary
Coordinate communication between kitchen staff and front-of-house to ensure accurate, timely food delivery and prioritize dishes during peak service periods. Inspect plates for correct portioning, presentation, temperature, and accuracy before they leave the kitchen, while maintaining a clean and organized expo line. Assist in resolving order issues, shortages, or delays to maintain smooth service, and monitor timing of all kitchen stations to ensure coordinated plate release for multi-item orders. Uphold food safety, sanitation, and quality-control standards during all phases of service. This seasonal role at Cooperstown All Star Village in Oneonta, NY, supports high-volume kitchen operations from May 15 through September.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours)
- Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting of items up to 25–40 lbs
- Requires working evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods as needed
- Must be able to work in close quarters and maintain situational awareness for safety
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, maintain focus, and sustain a high level of energy throughout service
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food service, or hospitality environment preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate between FOH and BOH teams
- Ability to multitask and remain organized in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Keen attention to detail, especially regarding food presentation and accuracy
- Basic understanding of kitchen stations, cooking terminology, and food safety practices
- Ability to stay calm and effective during rush periods
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team
