Job Summary
Enforce fitness center rules and policies while monitoring all participants. Independently demonstrate proper use of every weight and cardio machine, adjust settings to patron needs, and verbally instruct usage. Provide assistance by spotting basic lifts including squats, chest presses, and shoulder presses. Maintain cleanliness by wiping down all equipment and answer phone calls to deliver exceptional customer service. Visually recognize emergencies, respond quickly, and independently perform CPR if required.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to learn and independently demonstrate proper use of all weight and cardio machines to patrons
- Must be able to correctly identify which muscle groups each machine targets
- Must be able to independently recognize an emergency and provide appropriate care in a timely fashion
- Must be able to independently adjust each machine to fit the patron's needs
- Must be able to provide assistance to patrons by correctly spotting basic lifts including but not limited to a squat, chest press, and shoulder press
- Must be able to visually recognize an emergency
- Must be able to move quickly to respond to an emergency situation in a timely manner
- Must be able to independently perform CPR if the situation requires such action
- Must have the ability to lift 45lbs occasionally
- Must be willing to work various hours, mornings, holidays and weekends
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Personal Training Certificate preferred
- 1 to 3 years related experience in a gym or fitness center preferred
- Working knowledge of a fitness center with gym equipment preferred
