CLU Senior Credit Underwriting Manager

Job Summary
Manage and mentor a team of commercial loan underwriters for unsecured loans over $250M and secured exposures exceeding $250M. Direct workflow completion for pre-flights, new and renewal loan requests, and annual reviews while underwriting complex credits with little supervision. Prepare credit memorandums, financial spreads, and global cash flows to support lending decisions on new, renewal, and prospective loans. Conduct interviews for underwriting staff, approve timecards, and serve as the subject matter expert for underwriting topics. Collaborate with Relationship Managers during client calls to gain insights and recommend cross-sell opportunities. Ensure high-quality production standards and apply bank loan policies consistently across all assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics
- Minimum of 5 years of prior Commercial Loan Underwriting Experience
- 10 years of Commercial Lending experience
- Experience in underwriting commercial construction, C&I, and CRE type loans
- Experience in underwriting one or more specialty type loans
- Ability to demonstrate a strong competency in underwriting CLU's most complex borrowers, guarantors and credits
- Ability to identify different commercial loan types and purposes and recommend loan terms and structures
- Ability to analyze tax returns, accountant prepared financial statements and internally prepared financial statements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and use new systems, processes, policies, and procedures effectively and efficiently
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to use a financial calculator to calculate loan payments and other financial calculations
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
