Job Summary
Prune, trim, repair, and remove trees and shrubs from bucket trucks, aerial devices, or by climbing to ensure optimal growth and health. Cut, chip, load brush, and perform site cleanup while maintaining, preparing, and operating tools, equipment, and vehicles safely. Install cabling, bracing, and lightning protection systems, and assist crew members or serve as acting Crew Leader when required. Identify major trees, shrubs, and poisonous plants, and adhere to safety regulations including first aid, CPR, and aerial rescue protocols. Requires a driver's license (CDL preferred), completion of safety courses and orientation programs, and ability to acquire applicator licenses. Full-time, permanent role with up to 25% travel expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age to work in the field
- Driver's license
- Must be able to complete required safety courses upon hire
- Must be able to complete Davey Career Development Program (CDP) books
- Must complete Tree Trimmer Orientation Program
- Must be able to acquire applicator licenses as necessary per state requirements
- Must be able to identify major trees, shrubs, and poisonous plants in the area
- Must be able to adhere to safety regulations
- Must be able to perform first aid, CPR, and aerial rescue
- Must be able to use manuals, follow instructions accurately, and communicate clearly
- Must be able to travel up to 25%
