Job Summary
Conduct waived, moderate, or highly complex tests adhering to CLIA and CFR standards across Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Immunology. Perform and document instrument maintenance, review patient results for accuracy before release, and execute venipuncture or capillary puncture from newborns to geriatrics. Identify performance issues, correct them, or notify the supervisor, and ensure proficiency testing samples are handled identically to patient samples. Assist in developing laboratory policies and may serve as a Lead Tech when no supervisor is present. This full-time night shift role at Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin supports a comprehensive benefits package including tuition reimbursement and a 401K.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423)
- Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred
- One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required
