Job Summary
Design, build, and support secure cloud platforms and services using modern engineering and automation practices, particularly with Amazon Web Services. Develop infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation to improve consistency and delivery speed while collaborating with customers, architects, and security specialists to deliver solutions for critical national missions. Support the operation and continual improvement of cloud platforms, troubleshooting complex technical issues and contributing to cloud security, risk management, and compliance activities. Share knowledge through peer reviews and mentor less experienced engineers to develop team capability. Evaluate emerging tools and technologies that improve platform capabilities and customer outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience designing, deploying, supporting or improving cloud-based infrastructure and services
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code approaches and automation tooling
- Understanding of cloud networking, security and operational best practices
- Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues within modern infrastructure environments
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
- Effective communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to a range of audiences
- Eligibility for UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
- Applicants must typically be sole British citizens
- Have lived in the UK continuously for the previous 10 years
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps or DevSecOps delivery practices
- Knowledge of cloud security controls, compliance frameworks and secure-by-design principles
- Experience supporting highly available or mission-critical services
- Experience developing automation solutions using scripting or software development languages
- AWS certifications or equivalent cloud qualifications
- Experience mentoring colleagues or providing technical leadership within engineering teams
- Experience working within secure, regulated or government environments
