Job Summary
Build and administer Linux servers in the public cloud (AWS and GCP), managing deployment and running of application software at web scale. Automate maintenance tasks and infrastructure by building pushbutton and self-healing services using shell, Python, or Ruby. Analyze and troubleshoot network and infrastructure issues while monitoring system performance to ensure high reliability and availability. Collaborate with product, support, and engineering teams to design operations-friendly software and harden the platform against security risks.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a system administrator, network engineer, build engineer, or software developer, or equivalent educational training
- Proficiency in the Open Source Ecosystem
- Deep familiarity with Linux
- Scripting skills in at least one of; shell, python, perl, ruby, etc
- Undergraduate degree in computer science or related experience
- Strong listening and communications skills
- Highly motivated self-starter with a can do attitude that wants to learn and grow
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with commercial cloud hosting platforms a plus. (AWS, GCP)
- Some datastore knowledge or interest
- PostgreSQL or MySQL are preferred
- NoSQL knowledge (MongoDB) or big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, or Hive, would be a plus as well
- Knowledge of configuration management / desired state frameworks
- Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, etc
- JavaScript, HTML, Java or Scala
