Job Summary
Cloud Operations Engineer needed to implement and maintain cloud infrastructure in GCP, ensure scalability, security, and high availability, build automation to reduce toil, troubleshoot production issues, and support observability tools. Responsibilities include incident response, compliance with security standards, cross-team collaboration on infrastructure work and workflow automation (crons, n8n, Airflow), participation in outage and sprint processes, metrics collection, and documentation. Requires experience with GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, Python/Bash/Java/Go, observability practices, and on-call availability; ability to work in a 24/7 rotation and leverage AI-assisted automation. Remote US-based position with base salary $135k-$150k.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure engineering (preferably GCP)
- Familiarity with observability tools and processes (monitoring, logging, tracing)
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Bash, Java, or Go)
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes)
- Some exposure to network and application security practices
- Ability to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Comfortable leveraging AI tools to accelerate work (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Gemini)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git (Nice to have)
- Collaboration experience with Data Engineering teams (Nice to have)
- Exposure to automation/configuration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef (Nice to have)
- Previous experience in a 24/7 on-call environment (Nice to have)
- Location: remote within the United States
