Job Summary
HyerTek is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate the cloud infrastructure that supports federal engagements. You will provision and manage Azure environments, build and maintain infrastructure-as-code, and deploy/integrate Azure platform services (App Service, Functions, AKS, API Management, Service Bus, Logic Apps) while ensuring security, cost efficiency, and reliability. You will create CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), configure Entra ID and RBAC, implement networking and security controls, partner with security engineers, and collaborate with developers and architects to deliver well-architected, compliant solutions for government customers. You will document architectures and runbooks, support incident response and post-incident improvements, and stay current with Azure service evolution. The role requires 4+ years of Azure experience, proficiency with IaC and CI/CD, and U.S. citizenship for security-clearance purposes; preferred qualifications include Azure Government/GCC High experience and relevant certifications. Location preference is Washington, DC metro region, with flexible work arrangements offered by HyerTek.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance
- 4+ years of hands-on Azure engineering experience across infrastructure, DevOps, and platform services
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
- Working knowledge of Azure networking, identity (Entra ID), and core platform services (App Service, Functions, AKS, Storage, Key Vault)
- Scripting proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and operational tooling
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
- Comfort working independently across multiple concurrent engagements
- U.S. Security Clearance Requirements – U.S. Citizenship, Eligible for a DoD Secret clearance required
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Azure Government/GCC High environments and DoD IL4/IL5 workloads and certifications (AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-400, AZ-305)
- Ability to document architectures, runbooks, and as-built records suitable for customer handoff
- Location preference in Washington, DC metro region
