Job Summary
Cloud Engineer II responsible for supporting internal and customer physical and virtual computing systems with automation, maintaining SLA-driven ticket handling, and rapid incident resolution. Work includes monitoring alerts, triage and escalation per policy, supporting VMware ESXi and related hardware, diagnosing Windows and Linux issues, delivering customer-focused support via phone and ticket communications, and contributing to system maintenance, capacity planning, testing, and documentation. Requires proficiency with cloud technologies and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, PowerShell, JavaScript/JSON/REST API), plus ability to create procedures to prevent outages and improve system performance. Willingness to collaborate with a 24x7 Operations Center and participate in Change Requests and MOPs; strong communication, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Five or more years of progressive IT engineering experience
- Proficient in deploying and upgrading private cloud environments according to best practices using VMware vCenter Server and ESXi
- Proficient in configuring network virtualization technologies (NSX)
- Proficient in configuring High Availability and clustering
- Competent in deploying and administering Windows, CentOS and Red Hat operating systems
- Competent understanding of Python, Ansible, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript/JSON/REST API
- Competent in hardening Operating Systems in accordance with compliance standards and policy
- US Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts
- Experience with Active Directory and Exchange administration on an enterprise level
- Experience with IT monitoring systems
