Job Summary
Cloud Data Automation Engineer responsible for designing and delivering automation for PostgreSQL and distributed SQL databases (e.g., CockroachDB, YugabyteDB) across AWS and Azure. Build modules for deployment and migration of PostgreSQL and distributed SQL databases, ensuring secure, scalable, and performant deployments. Partner with cloud database architects and developers to create a unified deployment pipeline across multiple cloud providers, mentor engineers on best practices, and produce clear, customer-facing documentation to enable adoption of cloud database automation solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience as a database automation engineer with deep technical expertise
- Experience with OpenTofu, AWS CloudFormation, YAML, GitHub, Artifactory, and GenAI tools like GitHub Copilot
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages including Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, Go, Ruby, and Perl
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and pipeline automation tools, including Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Mentorship and coaching ability for engineers; strong communication skills
- Cloud DevOps practices; infrastructure-as-code concepts; GitHub
- Strong knowledge of relational and distributed SQL database administration and operations
- Experience working in Agile software development environments
- Collaborative team player with ability to communicate technical concepts to peers and leadership
- Ability to deliver clear, customer-facing documentation for deployment automation
- Experience working in globally distributed teams across multiple time zones
- Willingness to modernize automation frameworks and lead migrations to cloud database services across AWS and Azure
- Leadership in mentoring cloud database engineers and contributing to inner-source community
