Job Summary
Administer Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, and permissions while implementing governance, access controls, and cost-efficient autoscaling policies. Monitor performance of SQL warehouses and pipelines to ensure high availability, then diagnose and resolve issues related to cluster failures, job errors, or integration points. Collaborate with data engineering teams to troubleshoot environment-level disruptions and maintain documentation of network architecture and cluster standards. Apply platform-wide security standards including SQL roles, Azure RBAC, and Unity Catalog privileges to support compliance across cloud data services. This role requires a hybrid schedule with travel and driving duties, starting pay of $79,351 to $93,355, and is open to candidates residing in the Buffalo/WNY region.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable competency with backups, restores, and recovery models
- Knowledge of cloud compute and networking concepts (VNet integration, private endpoints, firewall rules)
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull a maximum of 30 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Managing SQL Server, SQL Agent jobs, SQL table and index maintenance, performance monitoring, and management
- Experience with Cloud data platforms, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Snowflake, RedShift
- Experience with cloud computing, Infrastructure-as-a-service, and cloud networking concepts
- Experience with monitoring and observabilities tools such as SolarWinds and Azure Monitor
- Understanding of data ingestion and transformation (ETL/ELT) concepts and data lifecycle
- Experience with Data analytics platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik
