Job Summary

Cloud Data Engineer role focusing on mission-oriented cloud, data, and AI-enabling technology. The engineer will design, develop, test, and support cloud-based data engineering capabilities, build and troubleshoot ETL pipelines, integrate data sources and APIs, develop data processing pipelines and data services, and collaborate with cloud platform, software engineering, and DevSecOps teams to deploy integrated capabilities. Responsibilities include securing data practices for handling sensitive information in government/defense environments, enabling RESTful APIs, CI/CD workflows, Agile processes, and documenting data flows and technical decisions. Required focus on hands-on data engineering, API integration, Linux-based environments, and modern languages (Python/Java/JavaScript/TypeScript) with cloud platforms (AWS) and Databricks; security considerations and potential for government/mission-oriented settings are emphasized. Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in data engineering, data integration, cloud data development, or software engineering
  • Experience developing ETL pipelines, data workflows, or data processing capabilities
  • Experience integrating APIs, applications, services, databases, or data sources
  • Experience developing software in Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, distributed applications, or cloud-based software environments
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and cloud-native services
  • Experience developing, testing, or troubleshooting in Linux-based development or operational environments
  • Familiarity with Git-based source code management and collaboration tools
  • Familiarity with Agile development, code reviews, testing, debugging, and collaborative engineering practices
  • Familiarity with secure coding, automated testing, and software engineering best practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot data pipeline, data integration, API, database, software, and interface issues
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within engineering teams and adapt to evolving technical requirements
  • Ability to support secure or mission-oriented environments
  • Experience with AWS cloud services
  • Experience with Databricks or comparable cloud data platforms
  • Experience with Python, SQL, Spark, Java, or similar data engineering technologies
  • Experience with GitLab, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable development and CI/CD platforms
  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Experience with unit testing or automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with data modeling, large-scale data processing, event-driven architectures, or streaming data technologies
  • Familiarity with containerization or deployment technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with DevOps or DevSecOps practices
  • Experience evaluating software dependencies, licensing considerations, or supply chain security risks
  • Experience supporting federal, defense, intelligence, scientific, or other mission-oriented environments
  • Active security clearance preferred, if applicable
