Job Summary
Closing Pre-K Teacher opportunity at Whatcom Family YMCA in Bellingham, WA. Join a nurturing early learning team to supervise and engage preschool-age children in a play-based curriculum with emphasis on social-emotional development. Role includes collaboration with Lead Teacher, communicating with families, maintaining classroom environment and records, supporting development, and adhering to safety and regulatory requirements. Evening part-time schedule 3:00-6:30 PM Monday–Friday with potential for additional hours; role includes responsibilities such as cleaning, first aid, mandated reporting, and ongoing training. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/First Aid, and completion of various trainings and background checks; may pursue ECE initial certificate or equivalent.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school graduate (or equivalent)
- CPR (Adult, Infant & Child) and First Aid certifications
- Complete Praesidium Child Abuse prevention training within 15 days of hire
- STARS 30 Hour Childcare Basic Training (within 3 months of hire)
- Negative TB Test
- HIV/Bloodborne Pathogen training
- Safe Sleep
- MERIT ID account
- Food Handlers Card
- Cleared Portable Background Check from MERIT
- MMR Immunization Record
- Willingness to obtain ECE initial certificate or equivalent (approximately 12 credits)
