Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Closing Manager, the Closer performs mortgage loan closing duties to ensure a smooth customer experience and adherence to closing protocols. Responsibilities include communicating with customers, mortgage consultants, real estate agents, and title/escrow companies; balancing closing figures; drawing closing packages; verifying closing fees and documentation; meeting closing conditions; and disbursing funds. Maintain knowledge of conventional, USDA, bond, jumbo, FHA, and VA closing procedures; schedule and prepare loans for closing; ensure fee and tax/insurance data accuracy; ensure disclosure timing; close a pipeline of 45+ active loans; clear closing conditions; ensure SLAs are met; review documents for completeness; resolve defects/post-close issues; ensure compliance with investor/legal guidelines; and perform other duties as assigned. Proficiency with Encompass and Microsoft Office is preferred; strong customer service, attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently are required.
Required Qualifications
- 1 or more years residential mortgage closing experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience using Encompass preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong mathematical and judgment skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines
- Must comply with industry-related regulations, requirements, and state/federal laws
- Ability to work independently to meet production and quality goals
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
