Job Summary
Assist oral and maxillofacial surgeons with chairside duties, patient preparation, sterilization, radiography, and post-operative care while maintaining a sterile environment. Perform duties in a hospital-based oral surgery clinic, including potential assistance in the operating room. Adhere strictly to infection control and safety protocols due to exposure to bloodborne pathogens, surgical instruments, and anesthetic agents. Requires CODA-accredited dental assisting program completion, DANB certification, and BLS certification. Full-time hospital-based role with exposure to standard surgical risks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program
- Certification in Dental Radiography
- Certification in Nitrous Oxide Monitoring
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience assisting in oral and maxillofacial surgery (hospital or clinical setting)
- Knowledge of infection control
- Knowledge of sterilization
- Knowledge of dental radiography principles
Desired Qualifications
- DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification
- DANB Certified Oral Surgery Assistant (DANB-COA) certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
