Job Summary
Collect and register lab specimens, schedule diagnostic testing, and act as a liaison between physician practices and Marshall Medical Centers. Schedule patients for services, verify insurance coverage, and obtain pre-authorizations as needed. Communicate appointment details and preparation instructions to patients while ensuring clinical documentation is available at the time of the visit. Register lab patients using AccuReg, collect blood specimens via venipuncture or finger stick, and prepare body fluid specimens for transport. Ensure diagnostic results reach providers in a timely manner via EMR or fax. Maintain requested statistics, clinical documentation, and reports. This role supports multiple locations reporting to Offsite Services, assisting with referrals to other MMC services such as physical therapy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Working knowledge of computers and systems to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate in a pleasant, professional, concise, and caring manner
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in the healthcare environment
- Prior experience in customer service
- Prior experience with or certification in phlebotomy
