Job Summary
Provide culturally competent, trauma-informed individual, group, and family therapeutic services to students and families while delivering crisis intervention and managing counseling referrals. Collaborate with school staff, community partners, and caregivers to coordinate ongoing contact with providers, utilize the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale for screenings, and attend school re-entry meetings. Facilitate monthly Parent/Caregiver Support Groups, assist in prevention programming, and supervise after-school activities and trips. Complete documentation in Netsmart and MIS, attend weekly team meetings and monthly case conferences, and consult with supervisors regarding termination and discharge planning. Perform this 12-month, Monday-Friday role at Maplewood Middle School and Orange Preparatory Academy, requiring a Master's degree and state licensure.
Required Qualifications
- Master's in Social Work or equivalent field
- LSW, LPC or state licensure specific to degree
- Providing mental health services with diverse populations in an urban setting
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and eligible for full‐time employment on a W‐2 basis
- The individual must possess the ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of up to or in excess of 50 pounds
- Experience working within a school setting
- Able to give and receive constructive criticism
- Attends supervision consistently and comes prepared
- Able to receive feedback and to learn from it
- Has insight about self (i.e., strengths and weaknesses) and utilizes that knowledge toward growth and change
- Tolerates a range of feelings, affect, and personal presentation without judgment
