Job Summary

Maintain assigned caseloads by providing direct care to patients through individual counseling, group facilitation, lectures, and discharge planning. Conduct assessments for new patients, complete daily progress notes and bio-psychosocial evaluations, and manage medical records ensuring they are professional and thorough. Collaborate with the treatment team in regular meetings and case conferences while linking patients to aftercare services and outpatient resources. Comply with federal regulations including 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, and confidentiality policies. Utilize walkie-talkie as a campus responder and demonstrate patient rights awareness. Contact insurance companies for authorizations as needed and attend mandatory trainings and continued education in substance abuse.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • An understanding of the relationship between substance abuse and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
  • Diagnostic, assessment skills and case management ability
  • Promote and enhance ones knowledge about the symptoms of psychiatric illness and addiction
  • Interagency collaboration
  • Ability to facilitate a group/lecture
  • Ability to set limits and enforce rules
  • An understanding of boundaries and ethics
  • Computer skills
  • Bachelor's in related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervised substance abuse counseling experience
