Job Summary

The Clinical Veterinarian will provide veterinary care and services in support of research at Penn State, including diagnosing and treating clinical cases, overseeing anesthesia and surgery, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The role involves collaboration with research staff and requires a DVM or equivalent, a valid license, and two years’ experience in animal-based research.

Required Qualifications

  • DVM, VMD or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited or recognized school of veterinary medicine
  • Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in at least one U.S. state
  • Experience working with swine, calves, sheep, rabbits, and rodents in a research setting
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in animal-based research
  • Experience working with principal investigators and veterinary support staff
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, service-oriented environment
  • Ability to supervise staff
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • USDA accredited veterinarian
  • Advanced training in laboratory animal medicine
  • Veterinary anesthesiology
  • Surgery or emergency medicine
  • other relevant veterinary specialty
