Job Summary
Lead RN/Charge Nurse coordinates patient care on a designated Med Surg unit, collaborating with the Clinical Manager to guide nursing staff, oversee unit operations, and drive excellence in clinical practice and patient experience. Responsibilities include adjusting schedules and assignments for acuity, mentoring staff, ensuring safety and infection control, rounds to assess safety and quality, facilitating effective communication with patients and families, serving as a clinical resource and potential preceptor, participating in quality monitoring and performance improvement, coordinating patient placement and admissions/discharges, fostering teamwork and conflict resolution, aligning with nursing professional practice standards, and supporting organizational mission and policies. Requires BSN (preferred) and active RN license with related certifications as dictated by units overseen; 2 years nursing experience with 1 year in comparable acuity preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting)
- Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees and the requirements for those specific units: PALS (preferred), ACLS (preferred), NRP (preferred), TNCC (preferred), ENPC (preferred), National Board Certification Specialty (preferred), Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)
