Clinical Track Position in Equine Emergency Surgery and Critical Care

Job Summary
Conduct clinical services in Equine Emergency Surgery and Critical Care by implementing diagnostics, performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Supervise and instruct students, interns, and residents on the equine emergency service while delivering didactic lectures and labs. Collaborate with equine surgery, internal medicine, theriogenology, and ambulatory services to facilitate emergencies. Pursue academic interests including daytime clinical duty, collaborative research, and scholarly activity based on department needs. This 12-month full-time renewable term-track position at Iowa State University's Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center supports the state's premier equine hospital, which is currently expanding its ICU and rehabilitation facilities.
Required Qualifications
- DVM
- Completion of an approved American College of Veterinary Surgeons - Large Animal (ACVS-LA), or American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care – Large Animal (ACVECC-LA) residency program
- State of Iowa Veterinary License
Desired Qualifications
- Board certification by the ACVS-LA, and/or ACVECC-LA (equine)
- Advanced degree (MS, PhD)
- Previous experience teaching/instructing
