Job Summary
Greet patients, explain appointment expectations, and escort them to exam rooms for diagnostic ophthalmic tests including visual acuity, tonometry, and lensometry. Perform procedures such as applying drops to anesthetize or dilate eyes, conduct tests measuring eye muscle function and pupil reactivity, and assist with minor surgeries, intraocular injections, and laser treatments. Accurately document chief complaints, present illness, and past medical history in the electronic medical records system, while educating patients on medication administration and pre/post-operative instructions. Safeguard patient information by completing diagnostic and procedure coding in compliance with HIPAA requirements, and de-escalate dissatisfied patients using problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
