Job Summary
Provide front-line leadership and decision-making for departmental staff while maintaining a safe therapeutic environment. Develop unit staffing plans based on patient acuity, monitor workflow, and adjust resources to support fiscal goals. Coordinate patient flow, manage admissions and discharges, and assist the manager in achieving organizational objectives regarding patient experience and quality measures. Participate in process improvement projects, peer interviews, and occurrence investigations. This rotating 12x3 day shift covers 36 hours at Methodist Southwest Medical Center, a Magnet-designated Level III Trauma Center serving southwestern Dallas County.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing: BSN required
- Completion of charge nurse training and competencies (if external hire, must complete within 90 days of hire)
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
- Clinical Course Certifications (Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardio Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP, etc.) consistent with RN requirements for specific clinical area
- Advanced Specialty Certification or agreement to obtain within 2 years (CCRN, CEN, RNC, etc.)
