Job Summary
Provide front-line leadership and decision-making for departmental staff while developing unit staffing plans based on patient acuity. Monitor workflow to adjust staffing for fiscal goals, coordinate patient flow for admissions and discharges, and assist the manager in sustaining departmental objectives regarding patient experience and quality measures. Participate in department initiatives, process improvement projects, peer interviews, and occurrence investigations. Requires a BSN, current Texas RN license, and clinical certifications including ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Schedule includes three 12-hour shifts plus four additional hours, Monday through Friday with rotating days off and call. Methodist Mansfield Medical Center is a 294-bed acute-care hospital in North Texas certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke and Heart Attack Center.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing: BSN required
- Completion of charge nurse training and competencies (if external hire, must complete within 90 days of hire)
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
- Clinical Course Certifications (Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardio Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP, etc.) consistent with RN requirements for specific clinical area
- Advanced Specialty Certification or agreement to obtain within 2 years (CCRN, CEN, RNC, etc.)
