Job Summary
Provide frontline leadership and decision-making for departmental staff while developing staffing plans based on patient acuity and overseeing daily unit operations. Monitor workflow to adjust staffing for fiscal goals, coordinate efficient patient flow for admissions and discharges, and assist the manager in sustaining departmental objectives regarding patient experience, length of stay, and quality measures. Participate in departmental initiatives, process improvement projects, peer interviews, and occurrence investigations. Work nights from 7pm to 7am with varying days of the week.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing: BSN required
- Completion of charge nurse training and competencies (if external hire, must complete within 90 days of hire)
- Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
- Clinical Course Certifications (Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardio Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, NRP, etc.) consistent with RN requirements for specific clinical area
- Advanced Specialty Certification or agreement to obtain within 2 years (CCRN, CEN, RNC, etc.)
