Clinical Surgery Scheduler

Job Summary
Clinical Surgery Scheduler responsible for greeting patients, scheduling surgeries and diagnostic tests, reserving surgical facilities, handling insurance pre-certifications, and coordinating care across multiple facilities with the physician. This role enters surgery information into the EMR, completes PAT forms, and communicates procedure dates, pre-op requirements, arrival times, and instructions to patients. Requires scheduling surgeries and post-operative appointments, monitoring schedule changes, cancellations, and add-ons, and coordinating travel with the physician. Proficiency with EMR systems (NextGen, Athena, Epic or similar) and strong medical terminology knowledge are essential, as are HIPAA and OSHA compliance. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., in a medical office environment with occasional overtime.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years' experience with medical scheduling and surgical coordination in a medical office environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and surgical procedures
- Proficiency with EHR systems (NextGen, Athena, Epic or similar)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Physicians and all co-workers
- Adheres to all HIPAA privacy and security regulations and guidelines
- Must be aware of and comply with all OSHA standards and guidelines
