Job Summary
Provide direct clinical support to clinicians in street-medicine deployments serving unhoused populations in San Diego. Responsibilities include obtaining vitals, drawing blood, administering basic wound care, assisting with physical exams and care plan development, coordinating patient transportation and appointments, and organizing/stocking clinic supplies. Collaborate with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and other health team members to monitor patient health, educate patients on medical issues, coordinate referrals, maintain accurate documentation, ensure patient confidentiality, and uphold HIPAA standards. Maintain a safe, efficient clinical environment and participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal communication to build trusting relationships with patients and care teams.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Medical Assistant diploma/certificate or CA EMT required
- 2+ years of experience as Medical Assistant or EMT in medical office, field, or hospital setting; required
- Ability to perform blood draws
- Understanding of ICD-10 Coding preferred
- Experience using EPIC EMR preferred
- Excellent assessment skills required
- Ability to problem-solve and to prioritize changing patient conditions required
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required
- Clean driving record
- Proof of Valid CA Driver’s License
- Must maintain CA State Liability Insurance
- Must have access to a vehicle/reliable transportation
- Tuberculosis Screening Policy: provide TB screening results per policy
