Job Summary
Review and verify provider medication orders, making clinical interventions based on patient conditions, disease states, and cost-effectiveness. Complete pharmacy consults proficiently, provide drug information to healthcare professionals, and educate patients while directing pharmacy technician workflow. Manage medication use including compounding, preparation, selection, dispensing, and stocking for the entire organization. Facilitate medication distribution functions and ensure accuracy prior to patient dispensing. Collaborate with the pharmacy team to optimize patient care, educate and train personnel, and serve as preceptors for pharmacy students and residents. Develop and lead medication use evaluations and process improvement initiatives focused on evidence-based care and quality. Perform duties as a 12-hour night shift with 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
- Doctorate PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy
- 1 year Pharmacy practice experience as a licensed Pharmacist or successful completion of a Post Graduate-Year 1 accredited pharmacy practice residency
- Pharmacist - KBP Required within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS Required within 90 days of hire
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and the ability to identify and distinguish colors is essential
Desired Qualifications
- Medical terminology and knowledge of medication names and how to effectively run a pharmacy
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Spreadsheets, Internet/E-mail, Database software, Contact Management, Electronic Medical Record
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Excellent customer service skills
