Job Summary
Verify quality assurance on all medications leaving the department by checking dispensed drugs, refills, and IV preparations. Dispense medications from physician orders, ensuring accurate computer entry and patient-appropriate dosing while communicating with healthcare professionals regarding allergies, interactions, and dosing questions. Monitor adverse drug reactions and participate in in-service programs, new projects, and planning for updated pharmacy services. This role requires a Licensed Pharmacist with knowledge of chemotherapy, hyperalimentation, and narcotic control. The position offers a salary range of $52.06 to $89.54 per hour at Carle Health Methodist Pharmacy in Illinois.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Pharmacist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Bachelor's Degree: Pharmacy
- Working knowledge of chemotherapy agents
- Working knowledge of hyperalimentation
- Working knowledge of IV admixture
- Working knowledge of narcotic control
- Working knowledge of investigational drugs
- Working knowledge of therapeutic drug monitoring
- Working knowledge of medication storage and dispensing guidelines
- Competent in communicating to healthcare professionals regarding an order (e.g., non-formulary drug, allergy, drug interaction, drug compatibilities, dosing question, etc.)
- Ability to use sound judgement as related to patient care if the physician is unavailable to answer questions
- Competent in working with various computer systems
- Competent in writing in patient charts
- Competent in dosing medications based on patient specific parameters
- Ability to dose all drugs in Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service
- Ability to monitor for all adverse drug reactions on patients
