Job Summary
Manage the 26-bed oncology/step-down unit during 7pm-7:30am shifts with rotating weekends, ensuring appropriate staff assignments based on acuity and compliance with staffing matrices. Coordinate patient care, monitor high-risk conditions, and oversee documentation of critical elements including restraints and verbal orders. Lead staff through huddles, rounding, and orientation of new hires while conducting performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed. Ensure regulatory readiness, financial accuracy for daily charges, and adherence to patient life safety standards. Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to enhance communication and satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- 3 Years RN experience
- Licensed RN in the State of Illinois
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Telemetry competency
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent customer service skills
- Consistently works within the framework of the Illinois Practice Act for Nursing and ANA Standards of Professional Nursing Practice
- Ability to assess and determine situations requiring an interpreter and to use interpreter services effectively
- Must be available for Full Time Nights 7pm-7:30am with rotating weekends
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- 2 or more years in pertinent clinical specialty
- Cert NRN
- Specialty certification such as CV-RN, CHFN, CCRN, PCCN, CNML, NE-BC, etc.
