Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, and photopheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis using the nursing process and laboratory results, while evaluating medication compatibility and safety. Act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel and coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments and facilitate care. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and manage supplies and equipment to maintain a clean, safe environment. Work variable 1st shift Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week with rotating on-call duties. A current state licensure as a Registered Nurse and CPR certification are required.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, OR-related experience
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption process)
