Job Summary
Develop comprehensive onboarding and training programs for new scribes and technicians, providing hands-on instruction in ophthalmic terminology, EHR workflows, and physician-specific documentation standards. Mentor existing staff, assess trainee progress, and maintain competency checklists while conducting routine audits to ensure compliance with MACRA/MIPS requirements and documentation accuracy. Perform medical scribing duties as needed to document patient encounters and support efficient clinic productivity. Travel regularly between practice locations to facilitate in-person training, competency evaluations, and staff development initiatives. Collaborate with providers and leadership to optimize workflows and establish documentation best practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Previous ophthalmic scribing experience
- Advanced knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) and demonstrated proficiency in documentation workflows
- Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor others in a professional and supportive manner
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed for training, auditing, and staff development activities
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification
- Experience training, onboarding, or supervising clinical staff
- Knowledge of MACRA/MIPS quality measures and ophthalmic documentation requirements
