Job Summary
Ophthalmic Medical Scribe supports physicians by documenting patient encounters and providing chair-side assistance in an ophthalmology setting across Kent, Stow, and Fairlawn offices. Responsibilities include guiding patients to exam rooms, detailed documentation of patient workups in the EMR, completing encounter forms, applying eye drops for anesthesia/dilation/medication, assisting with exams and treatments as directed by the physician, reviewing and communicating care instructions, gathering comprehensive histories, measuring visual function, examining eyes for abnormalities, performing tests such as A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII, pachymetry, and intraocular pressure checks, reading eyeglass prescriptions with lensometry, preparing treatment rooms, and maintaining HIPAA confidentiality. The role requires staying current with eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications, and the ability to answer general patient questions. Schedule is part-time (average 24–29 hours/week) with travel between Kent, Stow, and Fairlawn offices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Efficient computer skills and ability to type 40+ words per minute
- Entry Level (typical 0-3 years)
- Experience as a Medical Scribe ( desirable )
- EMR experience ( desirable )
- Knowledge of medical terminology ( desirable )
