Clinical Receptionist

Job Summary

Greet patients in-person and over the telephone, manage appointments, and route visitors to appropriate staff. Provide courteous assistance, apply trauma-informed care techniques, and utilize triage tools to facilitate timely clinical assessments. Maintain a clean waiting area, collaborate with medical assistants to ensure efficient patient flow, and participate in staff meetings. Process check-outs, collect co-payments, reconcile daily payments, and post encounters accurately in the electronic scheduling and records systems. Verify patient registration information, assist with insurance enrollment, create patient charts, and monitor office supply inventory. Adhere to organizational policies and represent the clinic professionally in the community.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training
  • Ability to communicate via telephone, video, and/or in-person
  • Ability to read documents, computer screens, forms
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to use keyboard and view computer screens for extended periods
  • Ability to travel locally and long-distance as needed
  • Ability to move around offices and clinics as needed
  • Strong people skills and the ability to establish constructive professional working relationships among a diverse workforce
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently as needed
  • Ability to manage difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to convey complex concepts in a clear, concise, and logical manner to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to effectively represent ODCHC's interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups
  • Strong computer skills with specific aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Adheres to ODCHC's policies and procedures
  • Ability to apply trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques after completing required training
  • Ability to utilize triage tools to route patients to clinical staff for timely assessment and care

Desired Qualifications

  • Related experience or customer service training preferred
