Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, perform initial and ongoing assessments, and provide prescriptive mental health care to clients. Review, develop, and implement policies for psychiatric prescribing while coordinating staffing needs and administrative oversight for prescribers across NARA locations. Deliver mental health education on chronic illness and high-risk behavior, develop individualized care plans, and advocate for clients within primary and behavioral health systems. Engage in ongoing specialized training to maintain high-quality care for Native American and Alaska Native communities.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Current, unencumbered physician license in the State of Oregon
- Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority
- Evidence of experience sufficient for successful performance of duties noted above
- Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests
- Must pass criminal background and DMV checks
- Good understanding of professional role and boundaries
- Agree to refrain from illicit drug use, marijuana use, and prescription drug abuse, both on and off the job
- Agree to model alcohol sobriety (not consuming, discussing, or promoting the use of alcohol, on the job, on social media and when in the community where the employee would be likely to be seen by NARA NW clients or community)
- If in recovery, have been sober/clean for a length of time sufficient to demonstrate that they will be able to remain sober
- Required to sign a 'Drug-Free/Alcohol-Free Workplace Certification Form' and NARA NW 'Modeling Sobriety Policy Form' as a condition of employment

- Experience working within the Native American/Alaskan Native community
- Experience working with clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
