Job Summary
Supervise and mentor phlebotomy students during their assigned clinical rotations, providing hands-on instruction in proper techniques, infection control, and specimen collection. Ensure students perform clinical skills in accordance with facility policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations while evaluating performance through observation, coaching, and constructive feedback. Complete required competency evaluations, attendance records, and performance documentation accurately, verifying that students achieve required clinical competencies established by US Colleges. Orient students to the clinical facility, including workflow, safety procedures, and emergency protocols, and communicate regularly with the Director of Externship and Director of Education regarding student progress. Immediately report any safety concerns, policy violations, or incidents involving students to the appropriate clinical supervisor and US Colleges representative. Maintain compliance with all facility policies, HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and US Colleges requirements while serving as a professional role model demonstrating excellent patient care and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent credential, as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling, and patient care.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
