Job Summary
Supervise and mentor phlebotomy students during their clinical rotations while providing hands-on instruction in proper techniques, infection control, and specimen collection. Evaluate student performance through observation and coaching, ensuring skills align with facility policies, industry standards, and US Colleges requirements. Orient students to clinical workflows, safety procedures, and emergency protocols, then complete competency evaluations and attendance records accurately. Immediately report safety concerns or policy violations to the appropriate clinical supervisor and US Colleges representative. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards while serving as a professional role model.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent credential, as required by state regulations
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling, and patient care
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
- Ability to evaluate student performance objectively and provide constructive feedback
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and patient safety standards
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare staff and students
- Strong clinical judgment and technical expertise
- Effective interpersonal and coaching skills
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and positive learning environment
