Job Summary
Supervise and mentor phlebotomy students during clinical rotations, providing hands-on instruction in proper techniques, infection control, and specimen collection. Orient students to facility workflows, safety procedures, and emergency protocols while ensuring all clinical skills align with facility policies, industry standards, and US Colleges requirements. Evaluate student performance through observation and coaching, completing competency evaluations, attendance records, and documentation accurately. Serve as a professional role model demonstrating excellent patient care and communication, fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and safety regulations, immediately reporting any incidents or policy violations to supervisors and the US Colleges representative.
Required Qualifications
- Current certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent credential, as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collection, specimen handling, and patient care.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to evaluate student performance objectively and provide constructive feedback.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare staff and students.
- Strong clinical judgment and technical expertise.
- Effective interpersonal and coaching skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and positive learning environment.
