Job Summary
Manage patient drug therapy and assure the appropriateness of all provider medication orders while providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care. Serve as the primary resource for drug information, education, and in-depth patient counseling, triaging and escalating issues outside the scope of practice. Maintain current knowledge of medication use and disease states applicable to specialty areas, ensuring quality assurance and adequate supplies for continuous patient care. Precept pharmacy students as assigned and consistently follow policies and procedures. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately and utilizes appropriate systems for processing patient information. One consecutive week of on-call duty is required every 10 weeks for after-hours assistance. This role supports Sentara's mission to improve health every day at their Level I Adult Trauma Center in Norfolk, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Level Degree in Pharmacy
- Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy
- Virginia Pharmacist License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- One consecutive week of On-Call duty is required every 10 weeks for Specialty Pharmacy after-hours assistance
- Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA
- Shift: Rotating Days shift, Mon-Fri
- Hours: 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm / 9:30am-6pm
- Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
