Job Summary
Provides pharmaceutical care for patients in a NICU specialty clinical area and serves as a preceptor/resource to pharmacists, interns, and residents. Delivers continuing education and helps develop/implement educational opportunities. Provides comprehensive clinical pharmacy services including participation in interdisciplinary rounds, selection and dosing of therapies, therapeutic drug monitoring, and adjustment of drug therapies. Develops protocols, formulary reviews, order sets, and medication-use evaluations; contributes to safety initiatives and evidence-based drug information to the multidisciplinary team and patients. Participates in residency research projects and mentors residents in poster/presentation/publication activities. Reviews medication orders to optimize pharmacotherapy and supports ongoing quality improvement efforts. Demonstrates accountability across pharmacology, patient education, medication safety, and standards of behavior in a hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Accredited Pharmacy Program (Pharmacy)
- Pharmacist License - State of Florida
- PGY2 residency or PGY1 residency/fellowship plus one year of clinical experience in a specialty area or PGY1 residency/fellowship plus board certification, or active board certification plus three years of clinical experience in a specialty area
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment and communicate effectively
- Interdisciplinary team participation and teaching/mentoring responsibilities
- Experience with clinical pharmacy services in a specialty area (NICU)
Desired Qualifications
- Pharmacy licensure in Florida
- Board certification or PGY2 residency in neonatology/pediatric pharmacotherapy
- Experience in NICU or neonatal pharmacotherapy
- Experience as a preceptor or educator
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
- Ability to work in a high-stress hospital environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop protocols and formulary recommendations
- Evidence-based drug information expertise
- Medication safety and pharmacovigilance
- Interdisciplinary team collaboration
- Residency program mentoring or teaching experience
