Job Summary
Clinical Pharmacist Specialist focusing on Emergency Medicine responsible for safe, effective, and timely medication therapy; delivers clinical pharmacy services in centralized and decentralized medication-use systems, serves as a drug information resource for physicians, nurses, and other staff; reviews and verifies medication orders for appropriateness; monitors and manages regimens per approved protocols and consults; responds to medical emergencies (Code Blues, stroke alerts, rapid responses); assists with procedural sedations and rapid sequence intubations; supports nursing with infusion pumps and drug-delivery technologies; participates in antimicrobial and opioid stewardship, medication-use evaluations, adverse event reporting, and quality improvement; involvement in formulary management, policy development, and cabinet optimization; adherence to USP standards 795, 797, and 800.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy
- Minimum of three years of job-related experience, or completion of a PGY-1 or PGY-2 ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency in lieu of additional experience
- Current Kentucky Pharmacist License
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
- Board Certification required within 1 year of hire
- Demonstrated competency in emergency medicine pharmacotherapy, emergency response medication management, procedural sedation support, rapid sequence intubation (RSI), antimicrobial stewardship, and protocol-based clinical monitoring
